On Writing

So you want to be a writer, kid?

You willing to spend hour upon hour typing thousands of words only to later minimize them down to one sentence?

You prepared to sit by yourself, in a room, on a bench, in a bathroom scribbling random thoughts that no one may ever read?

You ready to ride the highs and lows from: “I am the greatest writer ever known to mankind!” To: “I suck, my ideas suck, and I’m going to end up eating cat food until I die.”

And what about talking to yourself? Are you good with that? Because anyone walking by while you’re rereading your copy is going to run fast and furious to the closest pharmacy for a generous dose of anti-psychotics.

You willing to do all that, kid and try having a life, too?

Yes, Sir. I am.

Alright. Have at it. But don’t say I didn’t warn you. -c.e.b.
