Swept Away

Talk about the inspiration of music. The other day I was writing a short descriptive piece to move my characters from one scene to another. Then Yanni- Live at the Acropolis came pouring out of my computer from my beloved Pandora. If you’ve never listened to Yanni, listen. The dude casts spells with his music.

The next thing you know, I was transcended to a magical world filled with fireworks and snowcapped mountains. My characters went from swinging on a backyard play set to sleighing on their bellies under the light of the overhead gem shower. It was beautiful. Magical. And yet, it had nothing to do with my story.

Even so, I allowed it, indulged myself like a greedy school girl ignoring the call to dinner while I stuffed down ten ice cream cones. And then, just when my characters were about to sail over a rainbow like unicorns in fantasy land, the song ended.

Mountains turned back to swings. Rainbows turned to sunshine. Fireworks dissipated–at least in this story … or until Yanni’s next return. 🙂

Your imagination is refreshing and delightful. And your way with words and expressions is truly a gift. The question is—a gift from above or— your talented mother?! Ha, ha gottcha!!
